Michael and Dianne's Engagement Photo Session at Rutgers Ecological Preserve

Engagement photo sessions are a special way to capture the joy and excitement of a couple's journey towards marriage. Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing Michael and Dianne at the picturesque Rutgers Ecological Preserve. This serene location provided the perfect backdrop for their love story, combining natural beauty with personal significance.

This engagement session came about in a unique way. Kassie Gunn, a dear friend and fellow photographer, had originally been scheduled to capture Michael and Dianne's love story. Unfortunately, due to a back injury, Kassie was unable to fulfill this commitment and asked me to step in. Honored by her trust, I was determined to create a memorable experience for the couple.

While we’re on the topic of engagement sessions… here are some tips for yours!

Tips for Your Engagement Session

Planning an engagement photo session at a location like the Rutgers Ecological Preserve can be an unforgettable experience. Here are some tips to make the most of it:

  1. Choose the Right Time: The preserve is beautiful year-round, but consider the season and time of day for the best lighting. Early morning or late afternoon provides soft, natural light that's perfect for photos.

  2. Dress Comfortably: Wear outfits that reflect your personality and ensure you're comfortable. Walking through the preserve may involve some light hiking, so practical footwear is a must.

  3. Embrace the Environment: Use the natural elements to your advantage. Incorporate the scenery into your photos for a more organic and memorable session.

  4. Be Yourselves: The best photos are those that capture genuine emotions. Relax, have fun, and let your love shine through.
